Today I finally got my first migrant of the season, and a very surprising one
too. This morning started out slow, everything was perfect for some warblers,
plenty of Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, and vireos (Red-eyed and
White-eyed), but not a single warbler around (except for Common Yellowthroats).
After about half an hour of waiting, a small brown bird popped up and started
flitting around with the titmice and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers. After about a
minute of observing its under belly, it finally turned its head so I could see
the distinct median and lateral crown stripes, it was a Worm-eating Warbler!
Worm-eating Warbler makes Yard Bird #145!!!
Good Birding!!
