Dec. 12, 2002 Running between appointments today, I made it through Shelby Farms twice. Both the dark morph and the dark/rufous morph intergrade Red-tailed Hawks were present but the dark seems to now prefer to stay in a more secluded location since the other bird has appeared. A total of 9 Red-tailed, 2 Cooper's (adult and immature) and 2 Harriers (adult female and immature) were found. The two Common Goldeneye had changed ponds and the Great Egret that has been hanging out there was still present. Those, plus the Ash-throated FC and Black-Crowned Night-Heron at Ensley, would make nice CBC birds. Good Birding!!! Jeff R.
