This little fellow used all his God-given instincts to survive the
temperature in the single digits here last night. Yesterday afternoon
he kept coming to the feeder for an hour past his usual time and
actually was on it after dark, sitting under the light and drinking
again and again and then simply resting in the warmth. We were really
concerned about him and decided to put an additional light on the feeder
this morning as the sugar water began getting icy yesterday afternoon
with the single lamp. We were so happy when he came this morning while
it was still absolute dark outside at 6:15 a.m., much earlier than ever
before. And he is not taking quick sips but sitting for extended times
to drink and warm. What a blessing he has been and I am smiling because
of him as I send this email. Birds are so wonderful - God's fifth day
of creation was beautiful.
