On 18 December, 32 field observers and 3 feeder watchers totaled 82 species
on the Nashville CBC. We also had two Count Week species, 1 female
Ruby-throated Hummingbird which had previously been banded, and 2 Pine Siskins.
 The
total is in the normal range for this count. Some birds of interest included:
12 species of waterfowl, including 1 female Common Goldeneye at Radnor Lake,
and 1 female Northern Shoveler on the Poplar Creek route.
2 adult Bald Eagles
84 Red-tailed Hawks - they were everywhere!
1 Merlin on Coley Davis Rd. - the first record for this count
2 Bonaparte's and 70 Ring-billed Gulls in Bell's Bend
all three common owls
1 female Rufous Hummingbird that was previously banded
3 Red-breasted Nuthatches
13 Brown Creepers
2 Winter Wrens
55 American Pipits in Bell's Bend
1 Loggerhead Shrike on the Warner Park route
4330 European Starlings!
36 Yellow-rumped Warblers, our only warbler
9 sparrow species
24 Rusty Blackbirds
1 Brewer's Blackbird on the Poplar Creek route

Thank you to all who participated. It was a beautiful day to be out counting
birds.
