Greetings, On Sunday morning, I had a new yard bird here at my home on the west side of Morristown in Hamblen County. While watching several goldfinch riddle the sunflowers ?they? planted under my feeder, I saw a small black and white bird land in my crepe myrtle just outside my kitchen window. The little black and white striped bird acted like a nuthatch and I was able to watch it for a few minutes before it flew away and I flew to find my bird book. I had decided that I was pretty sure it was a male black and white warbler, but the little bird must have known that I?m a novice because he flew back one more time and gave me a chance to verify my sighting!! Not only was this a new yard bird, it was also a life bird for me, so you just never know what might show up at home! My hummingbird population has also increased this weekend from the single male and female that I?ve been seeing since early spring. I?ve also got adolescent cardinals and towhees at (and under) my feeders and I have the second set of house wren nestlings about ready to fledge. Ginger Goolsby
