TVA Lake,
Ensley and North Treatment plants,
Shelby Co. TN

On the 3rd trip to TVA Lake today, I found a Neotropic Cormorant in with
the DC Cormorants along with a pair of Black-bellied Whistling Ducks.

Shorebirds numbers exploded this week, but only 12 species found today at
both the north and south waste water treatment plants. Best bird today was
at Ensley, a slightly molted, breeding plumaged Sanderling with a colorful
tri-colored head. Only other species of note were today; 8 Semipalmated
Plovers, 2 Stilt Sandpipers and a total of 14 Spotted Sandpipers. An
unexpected Upland Sandpiper was found in Haywood Co, this past Tuesday. The
last 10
days has produced 15 species of Wind Birds.

Last weekend a single Black Tern was seen on the Mississippi River, Friday
3 were seen at Pickwick above the dam and today 6 on the Mississippi at
Memphis.

Photos later.

Good Birding !!!
