[TN-Bird] Douglas Lake: Black Terns

Lake elevation: 990.8 ft.; temperature: lukewarm

Just as we were about to launch, a dozen black terns flew along the  
tree line on the far side of the embayment.  They wheeled at the south  
end, then flew north along the lake and disappeared in the distance.   
They seemed to be juveniles,  but with binoculars at a half-mile, I  
wouldn't swear to it.  Otherwise, more little blue herons, abundant  
spotted sandpipers, and typical species & numbers for this time of year.
