Eighteen participants found 140 species on the North American Migration
Count held on Saturday May 12. This is quite a mediocre number, but the
spring migration this year was so odd and unpredictable I was pleased
with the results. Highlights included:
- 28 species of warblers including WILSON'S. We did not find a
Northern Waterthrush or Connecticut Warbler even though they were both
observed during the week before.

- 2 Little Blue Herons at Amnicola Marsh

- 1 Yellow-crowned Night Heron in the ditch along Shepard Road

- Least Bitterns at Standifer Gap

- 3 Gadwall at Standifer Gap

- Virginia Rails and Sora at Standifer Gap Marsh

- 9 Forsters Terns out from Chester Frost Park

- 1 Philadelphia Vireo

1 NFL SUPERBOWL WINNING QUARTERBACK

      - PAYTON MANNING was sighted playing golf at the Honors Course
in Ooltewah. That must count for something!

Misses:

- Shorebirds were non-existant with only 6 species.

- Blue-headed Vireo

- Grasshopper Sparrow

- Sedge or Marsh Wren

- Nashville Warbler

- Bobolink

I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED ON THIS COUNT!
