A group of 20 enthusiastic birders met for the TOS winter meeting at the Duck River and Busseltown units of the TN. NWR. Highlights included a Golden Eagle, but no Eurasian Wigeon, at Busseltown. Besides the expected ducks and ring billed gulls, a lone Ross' Goose and several Wilson's Snipe were also seen at Busseltown toward late afternoon. Earlier in the day at the Duck River Unit, most all of the dabblers were seen and a few divers such as Canvasbacks and Buffleheads were on the Tennessee River near Pool 1. Rusty Blakbirds were prominent along the farmland near the refuge. Geese included Canada, Greater White-fronted, and Cackling. Several Redheaded Woodpeckers and Northern Flickers, and raptors such as Bald Eagle, Merlin, Red shouldered and Red-tailed hawk helped to round out the day. Heading to Pace Pointand surrounding area tomorrow. Come join us!
