Sept. 18, 2002 Dacus Bar, Ensley Bottoms Shelby Co. TN A before work trip to Mud Island produced only 2 Caspian Terns and a Ruddy Turnstone on the sand bar that held so many birds just yesterday. A lunch hour spent at Ensley was much better than yesterday's trip as the Peregrine has left the building. Total Wind Bird species 15, with a single basic plumaged Golden-Plover, a single Baird's flushed from the spread fields and single Wilson's Phalaropes in different locations. Time prevented much scanning in the fields so no Buff-breasted were located. Semi-Sand and Western are few and far between with Pectoral numbers way down also. Good numbers of both Lesser Yellowlegs and Stilt Sandpipers. Maybe this weather will put something on the ground. Sure could use a Red Phalarope or a PURPLE SANDPIPER ;o) Good Birding!!! Jeff R.
