I birded TVA's Kingston Steam Plant (Fossil Plant) in Roane County, Kingston, TN on Saturday, November 26, 2005 from 12:06 and 1:50 pm. A great expanse of mudflats exist in the river (Watts Bar Lake) all of which is non-vegetated but a good percent is dry. The following is a list of birds seen. Numbers represent number of individual birds counted. No number represents birds I did not count. 1. GBHeron- 12 2. Redhead duck- 1 3. Mallard- at least 14 4. Gadwall- at least 25 but probably more 5. Wood Duck- 2 6. Hooded Merganser- 92 7. Northern Pintail- 4 (two males and two females) 8. Green-winged Teal- 10 but probably more 9. Canada goose- At least 63 but probably more 10. RTHawk- 1 immature 11. BLVulture 12. Killdeer- at least 20 but probably more 13. American coot- at least 130 14. RBGull- approximately 75 15. Belted kingfisher- 1 16. Carolina chickadee- 4 17. House wren- 2 18. Carolina wren- 2 19. Golden-crowned kinglet- 2 20. Ruby-crowned kinglet- 1 21. American crow- 8 22. Blue jay- 1 23. American pipit- 1 24. Yellow-rumped warbler- 2 25. Palm warbler- 1 26. Swamp sparrow- 8 27. Song sparrow- 19 28. Field sparrow- 9 29. Eastern towhee- 1 30. Eastern meadowlark- 1 31.
