Nov. 25, J.Percy Priest Lake Davidson County TN One of the best places to see Hooded Mergansers in the Nashville area in winter is Couchville Lake. This is a small fishing lake, part of Long Hunter State Park at Percy Priest Lake. On the 25th there was a flock of about 150 birds there. Good close-up scope views were had from the fishing pier of birds lined up in the afternoon sun. Common Loons, Pied-billed Grebes, Horned Grebes, Ring-billed Gulls and a few Hoodies were seen on the big lake. On the 26th at Henry Horton State Park, Marshall County, a check of their meadow produced nice group of 25+ Savannah Sparrows.
