EBird tells me that I have reported 2454 Dark-eyed Juncos in Lewis County during my time here; two of these have been Pink-sided. So that works out to a ration of 1:1227 Pink-sided : Slate-colored. Of course many of those reported juncos were not actually seen well enough (or at all) to be certain they were Slate-coloreds, so the actual ratio will be considerably closer than this. Still, it gets the general idea, that you have to sort through about a thousand juncos to have good odds of finding one that isn't Slate-colored.

Good morning,Bill Pulliam has reported a Pink sided Junco in Lewis County. Just for interest, we have had one we consider an Oregon Junco in our yard since early December. We see it daily including this morning. We have been able to get good photos and sent in earlier on the internet for anyone who did not see it then. This one is strongly marked with the dark mantle and very pink sides. Our Juncos come in before good daybreak and then leave and come back a couple of later times in the day. We first thought it to be best identified as "Pink-sided, but other experienced birders think, as we do now, that it is more properly an Oregon. Good birding to all. J. N.
