This count was held on Saturday, Dec. 22.
a.. We had from 2 to 8 parties in the field during the day with a total of 17
people who participated.
b.. We had a total of 91 species which is about average for this count. Over
the last 12 years the total has ranged from 78 last year to 98 in 2002.
c.. Total birds, 9849.
d.. Misses/Negatives:
a.. Brown-headed Cowbird
b.. Savannah Sparrow
c.. We had a low count for American Coot, only 1,285 this year. The next
lowest was last year with 1,661. The rest of the last 12 years ranged from
5,880 to 18,760.
e.. Pluses:
a.. Red-breasted Nuthatch, we had 4
b.. A high count for Brown-headed Nuthatch, 12
c.. A high count for Double-crested Cormorant, 357
d.. A high count for White-crowned Sparrow, 34
