Harpeth River Greenway/Morton Mill Rd. Lake Davidson Co. Nashville, TN 2009 Aug. 23 A walk at 6 pm Sunday along the Harpeth River Greenway off Old Harding Road in Bellevue produced 2 LEAST SANDPIPERs feeding on the very small amount of mud that was available. Six KILLDEER were complaining as usual, but the 42 MALLARDs were hard at work eating their evening meal. Just past the top of the 1 mile, one way greenway walk that parallels the Harpeth River, a group of BLUE JAYs became very noisy. Soon the disruption caused a hawk to take flight, launch up the road toward me, and fly almost right over my head. The close-up view of an adult light-phase BROAD WINGED HAWK was much enjoyed.
