April 28, 2013 Following a very enjoyable annual TOS spring meeting hosted by the Knoxville chapter, Cyndi and I had a chance to visit Edgar Evins State Park on our way home. Most of the rain was behind us, so we were able to enjoy spring migration for a couple of hours. Highlights included the following: Yellow-billed Cuckoo -1 White-eyed vireo - 2 Blue-headed vireo -1 Red-eyed vireo -8 Blue-gray gnatcatcher -2 Ruby-crowned kinglet -2 Gray Catbird -1 Blue-winged warbler -2 Kentucky warbler - 2 (Very nice looks) Hooded warbler -2 Cerulean warbler -1 Northern Parula -3 Magnolia Warbler - 1 Yellow warbler -3 Palm warbler - 1 Yellow-rumped warbler -2 Yellow-throated warbler -1 Black-throated green -2 Scarlet tanager -4 Rose-breasted grosbeak- 5 A total of 50 species, most of which were foumd at the pullout at the Millenium Trailhead, the pullout for the cemetary trail, the courtesy dock area for the cabins, the boat dock area and a few at the park entrance tower. As always it was good to see the birds, but even better seeing old friends and making new ones at the spring meeting. The fall meeting will be here in Clarksville. Details to be in the upcoming Migrant and in a future tn-birds posting. Hope to see you there! Steve Routledge Clarksville/Montgomery Co.
