Tn. NWR
Duck River Unit
Humphreys Co.

I spent this balmy Nov. afternoon birding the Duck River
Unit. Lots of waterfowl are present, 99% Mallards. I did
see a few Am. Widgeons, Hooded Mergs. and No. Shovlers.
A great sight was 126 Am. White Pelicans activly feeding
on the Tn. River, close to the pump station. Good looks at
3 Bald Eagles and a Merlin rounded out my day.

Also, I came upon what appeared to a fire ant nest mound.
It was full of ants. I've never seen one of these in Tn.
before. Any ideas?
