Yesterday while drinking my morning coffee & watching the feeders, I noticed all of the birds make a quick exit. I stepped outside and a small hawk few off with a bird in its talons. Again, today, I was watching the feeders which contained several Gold Finches and 3 pairs of Purple Finches. I looked away for a minute and when I looked back, the feeders were void of birds. Just then a beautiful Coopers Hawk jumped up on the bush in front of my window. Evidently she had missed her prey, but she was checking in the bush for a potential meal. Many people don't like hawks at their feeders, but I, an avid migrating Hawk watcher, love to see these beautiful birds in my yard. Feeding & watching birds gives me great pleasure, but watching a hawk catch a meal in the air is something few people get to witness. Remember, Hawks have to eat too. So continue to "feed the birds - to feed the birds". Harold Birch Soddy Daisy, TN
