[TN-Bird] Chattanooga RBA #20

This is Kevin Calhoon with the Chattanooga RBA, sponsored by the
Chattanooga Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society.

This is Update Number #20 made on December 7, 2004.

Two Whooping Cranes were seen at the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge (Meigs co.) on
December 5.  One was identified as a juvenile  that was hatched last summer
(#418).  Also seen were two Bald Eagles, 5000+ Sandhill Cranes, and a female
Northern Harrier. ( Doug Geren, Elijah Cavett)

 

At least 4 Whooping Cranes were seen in the Hiwassee on December 4.  The
four were seen flying towards Hiwassee Island on the afternoon of December 4
from the Rhea county side of the Tennessee River. (Jimmy Wilkerson, Danny
and Anita Gaddy)

 

An adult female Rufous Hummingbird was banded at the residence of Dan
Williams on Signal Mountain by Chris Sloan on December 4. This bird has been
present since November 18.   For more information call Dan at 423-886-2062.

 

Five Dunlin were seen at the Brainerd Levee on December 5.  Also present
were 8 Northern Shoveler, 4 Northern Pintail, 4 Black Duck, and 20

Seven Common Goldeneye were seen on the Tennessee River near Booker T
Washington State Park on December 6. (Kevin Calhoon)
