This Monday, Columbus holiday morning, I detoured on my way to work
to briefly check the Bells Bend sod farms near the end of Old
Hickory Blvd. Fortunately, the overnight rain had stopped. In the
weedy field across from the main sod farm field were 3 BOBOLINK, all
in non-breeding plumage. They were feeding at the top of a patch of
large dark weeds relatively close to the road along with many SWAMP
SPARROWs. Plenty of E. MEADOWLARKs flying about as well. Only
a few KILLDEER on the sod farm fields.
