Thanks Jason and company. Plain old rice? Okay what do you do with it? Do you put it in to the usb slot? Sorry I just want to prevent any wetness. My mp3 player is real precious to me, as you can probably tell. * smile * shalom over and out.-----Original Message----- From: Shorty & KittySent: Wednesday, July 16, 2014 9:48 AM To: tmp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [tmp] Re: USB device not recognized plane old uncooked white rice. As in: would I need to buy it from you or could I get it in Canada. Also Roy I'm sorry your mp3 player isn't working now. Did you save your audio materials on to your computer? I just wondered, so that that might make it easier to download music if you get another mp3 player. Oops, I hope I'm not asking out of turn things. I just feel saddened for you that you lost your mp3 player. (I just know how much solace and hours of musical joy mine provides me with. Peace and good wishes.-----Original Message----- From: LazSent: Tuesday, July 15, 2014 8:28 PM To: tmp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [tmp] Re: USB device not recognized Sorry, I'm afraid that means the player has bit the dust. One can't just let it sit for 24 hours, one needs to use some sort of dessicant to draw out and get rid of the humidity before one turns it on to avoid short circuiting the player's innards. I do believe it is dead as I can't get sound from the player either. If so, you would have needed to let it dry out for at least 24 hourrs immersed in either rice or a dessicant like you find insome vitamin bottles. If you turn it on after it has gotten wet, you're taking a chance of shorting something out and ending the player's life.I don't have the instructions for Windows 8 but I do have them for Windows7 which may be very similar. In Windows 7, connect the player, bring up the control panel, choose system, then choose device manager. Then find the uSB section by typing the letteru, expand it, then press the letter u until you hear the one which says massstorage device, press the applications key, go down to uninstall and pressenter. If it asks for verification, go ahead. then disconnect the player and then reconnect it and let Windows set up the driver anew. I would avoidhaving anything else connected via USB just to make sure I didn't uninstallthe wrong driver. You can do as Bobby suggested and you can also try using a different USB port. [Roy] I tried all these things. There was a crackleing sound from the headset at one point so I am suspecting the player is dead I got trapped in bad rain storm yesterday so that could be the end of it. Another thing you can do is to delete the driver that Windows so miserably failed to set up or keep from getting corrupted and then connect the player and let Windows set the driver up anew. If this is the first time connecting the player to a Window 7 computer, then it's something one can expect to happen about 50% of the time. you can avoid this by turning the player on first and then connecting it. [roy] how do I delete the driver also this is windows 8 HTH, Laz On 7/15/14, Roy Nickelson <roylee@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:I have a sanza clip zip and when I plugged it into the computer it said usb device not recognized.
