Well good luck with that. Personally,I didn't think getting to settings and
time and date was that difficult anyway so think I'll stick with that.

Hello all,
Well, after doing some research, there is a way to create a shortcut to
speak the time and date. I had to modify the config.cfg file and add a file
to the .rockbox folder.
This is what it would be like:
A shortcuts menu item is added to the main menu following the system menu
item at the bottom of the main menu.
If one just wants to hear the time and date, one can turn on the player,
arrow up once, to the shortcuts menu item and click enter twice and it will
speak the time and date. Then just turn the player off.
if you're playing a track and want to hear the time and date, just click the
back button which takes you to the first menu item in the main menu. Then
arrow up once to the shortcuts menu item and click enter twice to hear the
time and date. To return to playback mode, left arrow once to the main menu
and click the back button.
I haven't had any luck yet in having the contents of the shortcuts menu item
spoken though, which is fine as long as there's just one item in there and
have yet to sort out if or how to have the battery level spoken by a
shortcut. I have only tried it on a Clip Zip thus far. If anyone with a Clip
Zip wants to try it, I can zip it up and pass it on.
That's the latest.
