I use RIS to install the OS, followed by an unattended installation script on reboot for the apps. This includes an unattended MF install. I can provision a brand new server in 30 minutes using this method, without the problems cited in this thread. At the very least I would recommend leaving MF off the base image and creating an unattended install that can be run after it is ready to join the farm. -----Original Message----- From: DOUG.WOOTEN@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:DOUG.WOOTEN@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, March 16, 2005 3:40 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: cloneing mfpsv3 Had the same problem ourselves just last week (using altiris RDP). A new image fixed it, but I believe that's only because it had a fresh lhc (as recreating the lhc after a build also fixed the problem). We now do a recreatelhc after the image has been applied before restarting the IMA service. Not saying this is the solution though, still looking into the specifics... _____ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Stratton, Doug MSER:EX Sent: 15 March 2005 20:30 To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] cloneing mfpsv3 What we are doing: We are setting up servers using sysprep. We set it all up, install mf, do the clean up as per citrix cloning docs (does not include removing from farm in anyway). Then sysprep it. Problem is: The box we initially sysprep from does not go back into the farm correclty ever again. We image it and try to add to farm and it does not work. We have to do dsmaint recreatelhc to get it to go in. I noticed that before adding it back the server is gone from the farm except that it still shows up under zone information? _______________________________________________ Doug Stratton CITS Technology Development Analyst Work: 250-356-6678 doug.m.stratton@xxxxxxxxx <mailto:doug.m.stratton@xxxxxxxxx> _______________________________________________ **************************************************************************** SMOKE ALARMS SAVE LIVES Go to London Fire at www.london-fire.gov.uk/firesafety <http://www.london-fire.gov.uk/firesafety> This email is confidential to the addressee only.
