Don't know how they possibly expect a consumer to wade through this.

As per the problem description enclosed in the case, you are not able to
install windows XP Sp3.
Please follow the steps mentioned below which can help us resolve the cause of
the issue.
Please provide us with the following information:
- May I know which version of Windows you are using?
- Do you have any Antivirus or Firewall installed (Brand and version)?
- Internet connection type (Broadband or dialup or on a network)?
- Is the computer connected to a network or domain?
- Are there any error messages or numbers?
- Please provide us with the screen shot of the System Property screen and
System information screen on the following mail address:

- To open the System property screen type the following command on the RUN
window.
sysdm.cpl
- To open the System information screen type the following command on the RUN

Here's how to capture screenshot:
1. Once the error message appears, press "Ctrl" + "Print Screen" on the
keyboard.
2. Open Microsoft Word or Paint (Start->Programs->Accessories).
3. Click on Edit and click on Paste (once you paste, you will see the screen
capture here).
4. Now save this file and send it to me.
ACTION PLAN: Please follow the steps mentioned below which can help us resolve
the cause of the issue.
During the installation of Windows XP SP3 if you get any Active X control
please try to install it and proceed with the installation and in case if you
face any problem then please refer to the following steps-
SUGGESTION 1-
- Try to disable the third party software installed on the computer
Note: - To disable the startup applications use the following steps:
- Start the System Configuration Utility
Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.
The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.
- From the System Configuration Utility window click on the "Startup" tab from
the top of the window.
- Click on "Disable All" button which is at the bottom of the screen.
- When you are prompted, click Restart to restart the computer.
- After restarting the computer if we are getting the following message "You
have used the System Configuration Utility to make changes to the way Windows
starts. The System Configuration Utility is currently in Diagnostic or
Selective Startup mode, causing this message to be displayed and the utility to
run every time Windows starts".
Please check the checkbox with the message "Don't show this message again" and
click Ok.

- Delete the temporary files from the following folders:
>> Type the following commands on the RUN window one by one and open the
>> folders and delete all the files permanently:

SUGGESTION 3-
- Use the following link to download the SP3 on the computer and save the setup
file on the desktop screen.

1) Click the Download button on this page to start the download, or choose a
different language from the drop-down list and click Go.
Do one of the following:
2) To copy the download to your computer for installation at a later time,
click Save or Save this program to disk.
3) Save the setup file on the computer desktop screen.
- Restart the computer in safe mode.
- To use a Safe Boot option, follow these steps:
1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a
computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can
press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
2. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then
press ENTER.
3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue
at the
bottom , select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.
- Go back to the desktop screen and double left click on the save setup file
for Windows XP SP3 to start the installation.

Guys,
We've started having users download SP3 for XP. Once installed, when you run
RDP it throws an error saying Data Execution Prevention is preventing it
running. Also breaks the RDP ActiveX.
Only solution we currently have is to uninstall - anyone got anything better?
