Yes, the spooler appears like it is running but is actually hung. Spooler
is full of garbage. Restarting service usually fixes and printers reappear.

I see the same thing that is is not a true crash.. Sorry for wrong
verbiage but it stopped responding properly even though Windows thinks
that it is still up and operating.

        Bruce,

But my spooler is not showing the stopped state - it says that
the service is up and running. I use windows 2000 recovery options for
the Print Spooler to restart it every time it crashes, but as far as
logs say it did not crash at all.

I do not know.. We have this problem ever so often and
have not been able to track it down. Sometime the print spooler crashes
and the no printers installed message comes up and we know to check the
print spooler.
I am not sure where to go other than that.

                        Bruce,

it worked! after I restarted spooler all the
printers that were disconnected come back.

The question is what is the problem? The thing
is there were some autocreated client printers even before I restarted
spooler but after the restart the rest of printers came up in Printers
folder.

Do I have a problem driver in citrix? I
generally try to use only PCL5e but there can be occasional PCL6... On
top of it I see new drivers pushed to servers even though I disabled
installing native drivers....

                        Thanks,

Try stopping and restarting the print

                                Hi group,

I had my printer environment nicely
working up until about 2 weeks ago when I started receiving helpdesk
calls from users the were unable to print to their client printers. The
applications will say "No printers installed. Use Control Panel...".
PRINTCFG shows all the client printers in "Disconnected" state. Attempts
to connect them hangs PRINTCFG. The session remains responsive. No
errors in event Log whatsoever related to this. This happens for both
printers with native drivers on the servers and these that do not have
them and use Universal driver. Printers arranged through CMS and
imported printserver seem to work fine.

No recent changes were done on the
servers. Server are not updated with MS patches.

driver is not available
                                -Automatically install native drivers

                                -Autocreate client printers when user
logs on CHECKED
                                -Inherit client printers settings for
keeping printed documents CHECKED
                                -All client printers

Any help is greatly appreciated as we're
drowning in the helpdesk calls.....SOS!

                                Thanks,
