Ok...stupid question time. On page 375 of the Admin guide, it tells me to use MFXP001.msi as the source from the \Metaframe directory. This doesn't exist, but the MPS.msi you mentioned does. So, I open it up and change some of the properties per your email below. DOoI save the new mps.msi or do I create a transform file? Page 375 says to generate the transform. My confusion comes in on page 376. It gives examples from a transform file that is on the CD. Question: are these sample transforms meant to be used or are they there as samples? If there as samples, why have them when they are documented in the manual? Should I create a new transform following the example on page 376? adam "Rick Mack" <Rick.Mack@volant To: <thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> e.com.au> cc: Sent by: Subject: [THIN] Re: Unattended install for MPS thin-bounce@freel ists.org 11/03/2004 04:29 AM Please respond to thin Hi Adam, Sorry, sent the previus message before my brain was in gear. All the unattendedinstall.exe file does is generate an msiexec command line with all the appropriate properties defined. Eg, (though this one is for XP FR3) the following command replaces the unattendedinstall.exe. It is all one line and I needed it to make sure the transform was applied properly. msiexec /i "metaframe\w2k\mfxp001.msi" /q TRANSFORMS="m:\install\citrix\disable_installer_w2k_en.mst" CTX_MF_FARM_SELECTION="Join" CTX_MF_JOIN_FARM_DB_CHOICE="Direct" CTX_MF_ZONE_NAME="" CTX_MF_SILENT_DSNFILE="M:\install\citrix\mf20.dsn" CTX_MF_ODBC_USER_NAME="metaframe_xpe" CTX_MF_ODBC_PASSWORD="gwf_metaframe_xpe" CTX_MF_SHADOWING_CHOICE="Yes" CTX_MF_SHADOW_PROHIBIT_REMOTE_ICA="No" CTX_MF_SHADOW_PROHIBIT_NO_NOTIFICATION="No" CTX_MF_SHADOW_PROHIBIT_NO_LOGGING="No" CTX_MF_XML_CHOICE="separate" CTX_MF_XML_PORT_NUMBER="80" CTX_MF_NFUSE_DEF_WEB_PAGE="Yes" CTX_MF_LAUNCH_CLIENT_CD_WIZARD="No" REBOOT="No" /l*v "m:\install\citrix\msi.log" /qb- CTX_MF_TURN_FEATURE_RELEASE_ON="Yes" CTX_MF_SERVER_TYPE="E" CTX_MF_REBOOT="No" CTX_MF_PRODUCT_CODE="0D00-06A7" Alternatively you can edit the mps.msi file with ORCA (free MSI editor from Microsoft) to predefine all these values in the Property table. That makes a standalaone MSI file that can be used for server builds as is, with just a /l*v and /qb- switch for logging with a silent install. I am trying to setup a test server in Virtual PC using the unattended method. I can install everything manually without problems. Whwn I enable logging, I get way too much so I set it only give errors and warnings. The output file is two line: start and stop messages. adam ******************************************************** This Weeks Sponsor Emergent Online ThinCity Conference Join us at ThinCity 2004: The 1st Annual Emergent OnLine Technology Conference http://www.ThinCity.com ********************************************************** Useful Thin Client Computing Links are available at: http://thin.net/links.cfm *********************************************************** For Archives, to Unsubscribe, Subscribe or set Digest or Vacation mode use the below link: http://thin.net/citrixlist.cfm
