[THIN] Re: Thin client technologies over VSAT

That is exactly right. However, transaction times of 10 minutes probably
point to some other issue. The latency from a VSAT connection makes typing
and interactivity very annoying and slow, however, it might slow a typical
operation down by seconds, not minutes!

I suspect there is some other issue here, to the original poster, have you
tried the same applications and transaction working locally on the Citrix
server? I.e. have you eliminated the VSAT connection to see what kind of
performance you are getting on the server itself?

VSAT can pump huge quantities of data quickly, however the latency is what
nails you in a Citrix environment. There will always be a latency of at
least 600ms - 700ms between any transaction due to the round trip distance
from the satellite to earth and router overhead. Try doing a traceroute to
see if you are exceeding this and where the bottlenecks might be located.
