SoThin ( sothin.co.uk ), NCD/ThinPath PC, Neoware ThinPC ( same as
NCD/ThinPath PC ) and Alcatraz from Wyse are similar products, anyone
evaluate this products?

One thing to consider on this whole topic is the issue of centralized
management. If you simply want a cheap solution to turn a PC into a thin
client and are willing to manually create and manage the nodes then =
anyone
of the free solutions will do the trick.

The benefit of the commercial solutions, such as ThinPath PC, are that =
they
install on top of the existing OS and can be populated and updated from
=
a
central point. So, for example, if you decided to publish new =
applications,
create a new farm, dedicated a server for certain users, etc. the =
managed
tools let you push these changes out the user launch interface
automagically. In addition, the initial client software can be easily
installed from the web.

Much of this can be mimiced using Pxe or centralized config files, but I
just wanted to point out that the commercial solutions do have a reason
=
for
charging, they are offering more!

Yes, there's one on the Knoppix CD. Once you get it installed it's in =
one of
the program menus. I think it's called Rdesktop.=20
