Can someone tell me if ghosting works with dynamic disk upgrade?
I want to start a setup for ghosting our Citrix Compaq DL360 servers. Must I
use the standard primairy, extended and logical setup or the dynamic volume one?

I have tried Ghost on DL380's and have had issues every time. Here's how I do
it. I take my server I want to make an image of and use NTBACKUP that comes
with Windows 2000. We have drive mappings too. I'll backup the server's P, Q,
and System State and dump it out on a network location. Then I'll take the
empty server and put 2000 Server on it. I'll remap the drives using the Drive
Remap Utility on the FR2/3 CD. Anything O/S related I ensure it's at the same
level. I'll upgrade to IE6 SP1, and ensure the 2000 SP is the same. Then I open
up NTBACKUP and check "Restore to original location," and "If Files exists,
Always Replace." I let it cook, then when it's done pull the network cable and
do the post restore tasks. It works really good.

Do these servers have the Broadcom Gigabit NICs installed? The hanging up
portion of your problem with Ghost is common with these NICs. I have usally had
to wave a dead chicken over my head while chanting to get to them work... or
use a different NIC.

We are cloning citrix XP FP2/SP3 servers on windows 2000 SP3/SP4 servers.
Servers are compaq DL 380 G1 and G3 (not sure about the first one). Full disk
images where made with ghost 7 and ghost multicast server. We used the switches
-buffersize=8 -fdsp while making the image. Upon restore the client stops
loading the image at 25% to 30%.

With ghost 8.* the image dump compleets but drive mapping is lost?!? The server
won't let anyone login when remapping is broken. Is there a way to fix this or
make ghost images that work? I always thought that using -fdsp solved the
remapping problem?

We based our restore procedure on backup & restore with ghost. The citrix
servers are not backuped in the daily backup plan.
