Well I don't know about a metric.
But something simple we use is the Resource Kit utility autoexec service to
run
a batch file which sends us an email.
We also use HP OpenView Monitoring on all this stuff as well. If one fails
to alert, the other doesn't.
I do not use the Resource Manager that much

Has anyone found a metric that will alert them when a server reboots? =20
Also I am curious as to how these alerts are working. Aren't they
client side generated? If so how can they send an alert if the machine
crashes?
We want to know when a server reboots and when a server gets
disconnected for the data store. Currently we are using the Data Store
Connection Failure metric for both. Ideally we would have a separate
metric for each.

Those thresholds are in minutes I believe. I have mine at 6 and 60,
yellow
and red respectively.=20

I have the metric "Data Store Connection Failure" set on every server.
Since I have to configure a Yellow and a Red threshold and they cannot
be
the same number I have to set Yellow to 0 and Red to 1. This causes a
continuous Yellow alert on all servers. It is no big deal but it is
static.
Anyway around this?=3D20
