You're going to have to be more flexible in your config... "absolute" and "not an option" don't leave you a whole lot of wiggle room. Maybe we can offer alternative solutions for the reasons that you won't use TS profiles if we knew what they were. You could use a third party app such as PowerFuse to get the exact same desktop for thin and native. Granted it won't be the new XP interface...
