Are you sure you don't have 1.4 installed on those systems?
I have Java 1.6 also, but once I uninstall 1.4, I can't start the CMC
again.

I use PS 4.0/FR6 CMC with Java 1.6_15 and it works OK for me.
There is a small quirk that it CMC has to be maximized is all I have
found to date.
