Ronnie, You're right - the laptop with apps running locally can be slower than one hosted as a published app - especially if that application is getting data across the network connection. Depends on your app mind - if they decide to run Battlefield 1943 I expect their local performance would be better - but if they're running, say, SAP locally on the laptop the performance may well have dipped off. So you're looking for a document that compares delivery of thick applications with thin application delivery over a VPN? What bench marks are you looking for? What are you looking to improve/change? Have you done your own testing - that's going to be a very powerful message? There's some interesting stuff in here - http://www.citrix.com/%2Fsite%2Fresources%2Fdynamic%2Fsalesdocs%2FApp_Virtua lization_BranchOff_Opt_WP.pdf which I know talks about branch office deployments - but there's a nice graph looking at payload of traffic. Here's a useful powerpoint from Simon Frost on ICA Bandwidth- http://pubforum.info/welcome/Portals/0/PubForums/DUB08/PPT/ica_bandwidth.ppt Looks like you've delivered on your initial remit; but if anything your remit was a little short sighted. While it delivers off-line working, moving the applications locally has given the user a performance issue. Maybe a mix of streamed apps vs published apps for offline/online use? My initial remit was to provide users with a new domain laptop with full VPN access, so that the Laptop can be docked when they are on site and when they VPN in they have the exact same experience. Any users that already have laptop's who also have admin rights and install software etc.. need to be able to access a published Citrix Desktop, as most of these users use a thin device when in the office this is fine. I am giving these users the file shares as web recourses so they can download files as we are still running an XP farm at the moment. This is all looking good, I am having real visible speed issues when a user uses the VPN laptop vs. the laptop were the user launches a published desktop. To me it makes since that the VPN will be slower as when using the published desktop all processing takes place in the data centre, but I need proof for management. So basically I am looking for some official document, if available and indeed if I am correct in my thoughts, that sets out some bench marks. thanks Ronnie Visit our website : www.ltai.ie __________________________________________ Lufthansa Technik Airmotive Ireland Limited.
