I thought about the copying over the *.edb files and applying the ESEUTIL on it, but since we were moving to a new exchange soon, I wasn't in a rush to do it. I will be doing it before we upgrade, though. I did a check on what version of Office we are running, and according to the HELP / ABOUT, it states Outlook (Word, etc.) SP-2. When I go to MS's Office update web site, it states it is NOT SP-2 but SP-0, and needs to be upgraded. So, I will try upgrading, and see what happens. Malcom: I will check the "always show full menus under tools customise options", and also see what happens. Question: Would any of these problems be related to users having error messages in regards to MS-Word and Outlook working together? Some of my users are stating that their MS-Word has caused an invalid error message, asking them to send the message to Microsoft, and then Outlook closes on them. If you go to TOOLS / OPTIONS / MAIL FORMAT, the "Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages" is checked. Their Outlook editing works fine if not checked, but that is not an option for the executives / managers around here, because they WANT to use MS-Word to edit their mail. So their problem, becomes my "challenge" to fix. Hopefully the MS updates will fix all of these problems (yeah, right). Hey, hope springs eternal around here! We implemented AppSense to combat this issue. Secondly, you can always copy the DB to an alternate location, copy ESEUTIL.EXE and ESE*.dll to the same alternate location. ESEUTIL doesn't have to be run from the server. As for upgrading, I would look at going directly to Exchange 2003 and Windows Server 2003. While Exchange 2000 and Windows 2000 are pretty solid (with the exception of a few things), Exchange and Windows 2003 are looking pretty good out of the gate. Of course, try to test if at all possible. If so, what did you do to verify if it was either a Citrix problem or an Outlook / Exchange problem. Not everyone is experiencing this, just the CEO, CFO, and some other managers! (This problem really picked the right people to irritate!) I know it is an Outlook problem, because when I terminate other apps within the users session, they are still frozen. When I terminate Outlook, their Citrix session runs smoothly, and they can start Outlook back up without a hitch. Currently we are using Outlook XP with Exchange 5.5 / NT4 SP6a and MetaFrame XPa FR1. My thought is that it is an Exchange 5.5 problem, and that the database is getting corrupted, etc. I would have done an eseutil on the *.edb files awhile back, but there is not enough HDD space to do it! If this is the case, we are planning on to move to Exchange 2000 or 2003, but we have not decided which way to go. Any recommendations which way to go would also be of help.
