What you are after can sure be done using a couple resource kit files called
from batch files or a wmi/vbs script. Thing is, if you know the names of the
servers already, it seems like a whole lot of work for something that is only
done every so often when a person leaves...

It would be quite simple to create the batch file I sent earlier and then just
create one additional script to execute it for each server like below:

changeservice wk1 messenger DOMAIN\service servicepassword
changeservice wk2 messenger DOMAIN\service servicepassword
changeservice wk3 messenger DOMAIN\service servicepassword

That gets the security issue out of the way. Then next time you have to do the
same you just search and replace the password since you already have all the
servers listed.

Hi Neil,

We have an account that we use only to run services on our servers. It
has domain admin privileges, so we needed to change the password on it
when our programmer left. Those services use credentials supplied at the
time it was configured for security. That's why they don't update
automatically when I change the password on the domain account.

I'd like to change that password for each of the services via a script.
I've seen a few responses that allow for a remote method to change the
password for a given service. Now, I'd like to be able to search a list
of servers for services that already use that account and change the
password automatically.

Yeah, in other words... I don't want to do it manually. :)

Thanks for the responses,
R

You've lost me? What password on what service account?

Don't really see what that has to do with somebody leaving?

Neil
