I've done a bit of appsense, but nothing serious for a year or so.
Error code 5, in its most general form, is Access Denied. Not sure if
that helps?
The various agents, configs, etc, are delivered as MSI packages, from
what I remember.
I seem to recall a similar problem to yours, and it turned out to be a
bug, I think.
What versions are you using?

first off, I'm not even sure how to get appmanager centrally
controlled. Documentation is horrible in this area. I'm assuming I
need to use deployment manager but nothing in the doco says yea or
nay. I try to deploy the deployment agent and it comes back as:
Unable to determine if Deployment Agent already installed on
\\<server>, error code 5.
I've tried appsense's knowledge base (yea right), and google but
nothing turns up. Now the deployment server is in another domain but
there is a 2 way trust between the domains.
