I think you misread part the artcle... Softricity is a wholly owned subsidary.
"With the closing of this acquisition, Softricity becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft, and integration of Softricity's technologies into the Microsoft software delivery and engineering processes begins."

Interesting eh?
I find 3 things in the release of interest (IMHO)
1) Softricity is still Softricity, but not a wholly owned subsidiary
2) Zero-Touch and the SMS Connector are now FREE
3) The cost of SoftGrid will be CUT! This is GREAT NEWS!!!
