In addition to setting the AppData value through policies, I also changed the AppData value in the default user profile under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Chris De Jongh Sent: Thursday, September 09, 2004 5:09 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Flex Profiles and Outlook Signature Hello, I'm using the profile wizard exe from the office2003 ork tools to use flex profiles. I also installed office 2003 sp1 and the signatures of outlook are working as designed. Indeed, I'm also exporting and importing the Windows Messaging Subsystem\profiles. Another question, are you redirecting profile dirs like application data to another path? If so, how are you changing the %appdata% variable the first time a user logs in? The first time a users logs in the %appdata% variable is still pointing to %userprofile%\application data directory. Although I have changed the registry setting in hkcu\volatile environment. I'm looking forward to read some feedback. Oh well as long as it works. Tests are positive. I am trying to figure out the easiest way to do this. It does not create the profile if one exists. It does use prf files as far as I know. I am going to manually compare a couple of reg files I exported and see what pops up. Though the SP1 for Office is intriguing. Do you run outlook with a PRF file (I seem to recall you saying you used Outlook 2003). Perhaps part of Windows Messaging Subsystem is being tattoed with the current local machine name / identity, but possibly some comparison being done with something in there already representing the local machine where the signature was set.
