Roger,
I run cutePDF here and it does appear to operate at a different level to the
Adobe stuff (printing seem's to run another app in the current session) but
would need to take a good look at it.

Our users print via CutePDF and save it directly to 'my documents', which is
just redirected to their home folders. I don't really understand how that's
different than the client drive scenario (since it resolves to a different
location for each session just as the client drives do), but it works just
fine.

So it must create it locally, on the server, before anything is done with
it. Gottcha. I thought I had seen where others could send it to a mapped
drive. I guess I was mistaken.
If I had the script, I would love to help. It is a creation beyond my
control.

The actual generation of the PDF file is done via a print driver ! Could
you let me see the script it generates ? Perhaps we can do something with
that ????

I know little to nothing about Adobe...the Filemaker fires a script, which
sends the report to PDF, by saving to a location, then opening for editing.
I know once open, they can edit, print and then save to their desired
location. Can the report be converted to PDF without saving it to the local
machine, say send to PDF by simply opening in Adobe?
My concern is that there will be this mass of PDF files on the Citrix
servers....with no owners. Can they be flushed after being edited. by the
application, or user, rather than my having to go clean it out as an
administrator?

In which case the print spooler cannot see 'into' the client session ! It
essentially is in session 0 (ie. Same as the console) therefore has no
concept of client drives ! Again, the V: is mapped to \\client\c$
<file:///\\client\c$> in the context of the users session.
I'll try and be a little simpler if I can
User a - session 12 map's V: to \\client\c$ <file:///\\client\c$> on his
local PC
User b - session 18 map's V: to \\client\c$ <file:///\\client\c$> on his
local PC
User a send's a print request to generate a PDF document which is actually
done via a print driver. Therefore, at the end of the day spoolsv.exe (the
spooler process) will try to 'save' the PDF to the drive you have asked it
to - this is done in session 0 by the spooler process and not in session 12
or 18 ! Therefore, how does session 0 know where \\client\a$
<file:///\\client\a$> actually is ????
Not sure if that clear's things up or makes it more confusing !?

Please elaborate.
The C$ on client is the V: drive on the server, for each user session.
So how do I tell the PDF to go to a location not local to the server?

But the C$ mapping is local to their session, not the print spooler process
! Remember, the spooler is in it's own environment so how would it know
what \\client\c$ <file:///\\client\c$> was pointing at !?!? Does that make
sense, if not I'll reword it !!!

We have a dept. using Filemaker, through Citrix (MPS 3.0), that wants to
send some reports to PDF. Acrobat 6.0 Pro installed on Citrix servers.
Seems that if I try to send the PDF to a local server drive, works fine. If
I try to send it to their C$ on client, or any mapped network drive, just
hangs at printing....sits in the queue, and can not be cleared without
bouncing the spooler. Never creates the PDF.
Thoughts?
