Yes buy one of the third party printing products like EOL Universal Printer,
ThinPrint or triCerat Screwdrivers that let you set a printer to a
workstation name(ip or mac even in EOL's product) instead of using the
username to autocreate the printer.

Subject: [THIN] Clientname changing with password change

Hi,

I've read through the admin manual, checked out CTX859359 and searched the =
thin.net for a resolution to this issue, and unless I've missed it (it's a =
heavily covered topic) I don't see an obvious solution to this problem I =
have with the names of autocreated client printers.

My setup is Win2K SP3 MF XP FR2, users login through NFuse to NetWare and =
their user account is created by the Novell workstation manager on the =
Citrix server. As their username is long and the ICA client limits the =
client name to 20 bytes (see CTX859359) the full username is shortened =
from "username.ou.ou.ou.tree" to the clientname "tree-.username.-nnnnn#" =
visible when the (local) printer is autocreated. This is fine, and as it =
should be, and I have an application (EskerTUN) where I manually setup =
printing to these printer names as the user logs on for the first time.

The problem comes when the user changes their password, their clientname =
changes(!) seemingly randomly, e.g. "tree-.username.-abcde#" becomes =
"tree-.username.-fghij#" which messes up my app configuration and I have =
to reselect the new printername for that user.

For the life of me I can't understand why changing you password in NDS =
would change your clientname as the local user account is created and =
deleted every time the user logs on and off, so I have two questions:

Why does the clientname change when the password is changed?

Is there a way around it that doesn't involve changing our username =
schema?

Cheers in advance,
