Those looking for warblers continue to struggle but shorebirds are great at the moment and with some patience there are a few good land birds with the afternoon arrivals. Smith Oaks continues to be the best for afternoon warblers and such. There are at least a few good locations for shorebirds in the vicinity of Winnie and Anahuac at the moment. Check the board at High Island for the latest info. Shorebird Highlights 24 species for the day, could have easily added a couple more with some beach birding Large flooded Field on FM 1941 -Hudsonian Godwits, about 8 at this location -White Rumped Sandpipers ~ 30 or more at this location -Many other species present in good numbers including 100+ Semipalmated Plovers, Stilt Sandpipers, etc. Anahuac NWR Large concentrations of many species of shorebirds continue, best today were a few Baird's and 85 Wilson's Phalaropes. Certainly the most Phalaropes I've seen on one spot in a while. Garth Road 3 Upland Sandpipers CR 65 Quick view of 4 flying Buff Breasted Sandpipers Warbler List: (Nearly all at Smith Oaks) Tennessee Warbler Yellow Warbler Chestnut Sided Warbler Magnolia Warbler Black Throated Green Warbler Bay Breasted Warbler Blackpoll Warbler Black and White Warbler American Redstart Kentucky Warbler Common Yellowthroat Yellow Breasted Chat Worm Eating and Ovenbird were also reports but not seen by me. Had a lingering Gray Cheeked Thrush at Boy Scout Woods late PM. Decent push of Cuckoos today. Peregrine Falcon flyovers were reported at least a couple of times today.
