Greetings All: It appears that I will be leading Texas Century Club-focused field trips to Dimmit and Zavala Counties at the TOS meeting in April. My having almost no knowledge about these counties is not, fair enough, considered a serious impediment to my leading these trips as neither county has seen a lot of birding effort over the years - so far as I have heard. I would, on the other hand, like to do both counties justice and would like to plan solid, six-seven hour routes for each county. If any of you texbirders have any tips to provide, they would be most welcome. I am particularly interested in knowing where publicly accessible water might be - so that we can look for lingering waterfowl and waders as well as migrant shorebirds; where migrant traps might be - there must be good spots for the flycatcher/vireo/warbler/tanager/grosbeak suite in both counties and the more I know about the better; particularly good spots to look for city birds - Rock Pigeons, Eurasian Collared Doves, European Starlings, and House Sparrows might be trash birds to some but to TCC folk they are just four more gold coins for the pot; any private land owners who might be open to allowing a little TOS access to their land for a day - especially if that land has water on it. Thanks, in advance, for any assistance that I receive; Anthony 'Fat Tony' Hewetson, Lubbock Edit your Freelists account settings for TEXBIRDS at //www.freelists.org/list/texbirds Reposting of traffic from TEXBIRDS is prohibited without seeking permission from the List Owner
