My wife and I spent the night last night at Sabinal River Lodge in Utopia
and failed to see the Green Violetear. We saw as many as 40
Black-chinned hummingbirds feeding from the five hummingbird feeders. We
watched the feeders off and on from 3:30-9:00 pm last night and from
6:30-8:30 am today. We spoke with the owner last night and she said the
bird had not been seen for five days.
It was is a lovely property and we went swimming in the river which borders
the lodge. So, while we dipped on the bird we nevertheless enjoyed our time
there.
