Bert,

That gull (or one just like it) has been at that location every winter since 
December, 2009.  At that time it was a first winter bird, and we have been able 
to watch it grow up.  It shows up in late October or early November and stays 
through March.  It has been seen anywhere from Marker 40 to about Marker 60, 
but usually in the high 40's to mid 50's.  It has shown a very high degree of 
site fidelity and can be pretty tame.

Subject: [texbirds] Lesser Black-backed Gull still at Mustang Island


Still present this morning, the adult Lesser Black-backed Gull reported by
Jon McIntyre on Sunday is at mile marker 60.  I watched and photographed it
for 20 min. and it quite consistently stayed on the beach near breaking
water at mile 60, occasionally flying off, making a large circle and coming
back to the same spot.  The spot is midway between Gulf Waters RV Resort and
Mirage Beachfront Condos on Mustang Island in Port Aransas.  GPS is
approximately N27.7531, W97.1156.
