We checked the [private, inaccessible, please contact us to arrange going out there] treatment ponds this morning and found a circling, drinking, occasionally hover-drinking, flock of 8-10 McCown's Longspurs: all tails were bright, crisp white with the black, inverted "T" and they passed overhead giving a higher-than Chestnut-collared call... nice way to freeze our faces off, all things considered. Other than the 'usual suspects' re: waterfowl, one male Wood Duck was present. Post Park was almost eerily birdless for anything out of the water, but then again, the entire town is eerily birdless due to crazy wind. Post Road did provide one Golden Eagle being mobbed by two little Red-tails. Funny how size perception changes.
