This morning I headed down to Lafitte's Cove and setup my blind to shoot the
ducks on the pond. Â The ducks were far from cooperative and after about 50
minutes of nothing coming in close enough for photos I was about to give up. Â
Then all the ducks lifted up  and flushed from the Gazebo end down to where I
was sitting. Â A Cooper's Hawk was in hot pursuit of Green-winged Teal. Â This
dropped about 20 of the Teal right in front of me and I got my shoots. Â Over
the next 40 minutes, I watched this Cooper's Hawk make four other attempts at
getting a Green-winged Teal and was clearly within inches of one Teal that made
the right maneuver to escape.  Once the Cooper's landed 10-15 feet right
behind me on the sidewalk until he realized that the camo in front of him
could move. Â Quite fun to watch this Cooper's thinking he could take down a
duck. Â Considering the number of attempts made, I suspect that the Cooper's
has been successful in the past. Â The woods at Lafitte's were very quite.
