Almost got whipped on one of those for the same symptom, except the HOT
would short at normal contrast. Check all the blue electrolytics on the
9-629 sweep board. Pay attention to the ones around the horiz. driver area.

When any one screen control is turned up, the other 2 goes dim, and appears
to blink rapidly. Shuts down if screen controls are turned up to normal.
Could this be bad Hi-Div (focus/voltage divider) ?
