I like to give a dishwasher cleaned board about 24 hours before power up,
never had one blow, even with IHVT's on it.

| I never tried the dishwasher trick but I've been using Lestoil for years.
| Soak the board in full strength Lestoil for a few minutes and brush it
with
| a paint brush to loosen whatever. Then spray with hot water to rinse the
| Lestoil and dirt off. We used a compressed air/water sprayer at the Navy
| Yard restoration shop. I use the kitchen sink spray hose in my shop. Dry
| well with compressed air or whatever you have. I've cleaned the old band
| switch type tuners, boards, chassis with IF transformers, and remote
| controls this way with good results. Some ICs may get water under them
that
| takes heat or just sitting to dry for a few days, but that is rare.
