A short note on ''training''.We here in Canada have little if any
opportunity to attend these seminars as most manf's have left & are states
side.They have there pro's & con's.As a single shop owner/operator I have
since 1965 attended some of them with mixed results. As an ASC for some 16
different manf's they will sometimes say you must attend or lose your
status.I have not attended a ton of them & never lost a one.The best
training I have ever received is from Jacques Benoit;the National Technical
Service Manager for Philips. He retired this past year & IMO one of the
finest techs that ever picked up a test probe. He would drop in my humble
little shop at least once a year;walk me thru the new sets, service
updates, mod's & leave all the service literature related to them.He toured
all the ASC's he was responsible for in his region.A great individual & even
would call me at least once a month to see if I was having any problems with
parts,warranty etc.If there were more like Jacques,service centres & manf's
& customers would benefit.My .02........................
