If you don't ask you don't learn, right? Kinescope, pronounced Kennyscope,
is CRT, or picture tube.

TRAINING IN OHIO

Hello All !
Are you always griping about there never being enough
training - especially if you're not an ASC ? Here's the answer to your
needs.
NesdaOhio is hosting a Weekend of Training in Hudson, Ohio (halfway
between
Cleveland and Akron) at the end of September.

This is especially needed now that the Kinescope is heading the way
of
the Dinosaurs and DoDo Birds. That statement was made by almost every
manufacturer at the Nesda National Convention recently held in Reno. In
just a very
few years there will be almost NO TV's produced with Kinescopes.

What will replace them? Well a variety of products: LCD's, Light
Engines, DLP, Plasma, and LCOS. Yeah, some new stuff to learn about,
and
you can
get in on the ground floor at the NesdaOhio Weekend O'Training. Six
Manufacturers have agreed to send their Finest Trainers to Ohio and
present
classes on
these very subjects. Two classes a day for three days on cutting edge,
state-of-the-art Technology, that will definitely change the way we
think
about
Television.

LOOK AT THIS LINEUP

THURSDAY Sept 25
AM... Philips LCOS
PM... Hitachi DP3X HDTV

FRIDAY Sept 26
AM...Thomson DLP
PM...Zenith LDC TV

SATURDAY Sept 27
AM...Toshiba N3PSP PTV
PM... Sencore Introductions to Audio and Video Calibrations

The Sencore Class promises to be interesting. You may have read
discussion about the ISF/HAA calibrations on the service forums and
wondered
if that's
something that you should get into as part of your business. Sencore
will
present a "short version" of these procedures so that you can make an
informed
decision about whether you want to take their week-long calibration
class.
Many have found it to be a new business opprotunity, and many have not.
Now
you
can decide.

The rest of the classes speak for themselves. A variety of New -
Emerging technology that WILL change our business. Not all of these
formats
will
survive, but YOU will be able to get a leg up on all of them to help you
during
these "Shakeout" years, so that YOU will be a survivor.

If you want to learn these skills, We invite you to come to this
training. You need Not be a Nesda member to attend, although there IS a
discount for
Nesdamembers. You get all 3 days for $79(member) $89(non-member). It
will
be at the Hudson, Ohio Holiday Inn. About 500 yards North of the Ohio
Turnpike
exit 180 (old exit 12) on State Rt.8. There is a special Nesda room
rate if
you're staying at the hotel - you have to make your own hotel
reservation,
it's not part of the registration fee. If you're too cheap to stay at
the
Holiday Inn, there's a Motel 6 & Knight's inn about 3 miles farther
north.
Bring
the family & make it a mini-vacation. There's lots to do in the area
while
You're packing Your brain. If you're flying in (and we've received
registrations
from both coasts of the country, already) You can fly into the Big
Cleveland-Hopkins airport, or the smaller Akron-Canton Regional
airport.
The Holiday
Inn is about halfway between them.

I'm looking forward to this Weekend - I've already sent in MY
registration since it's limited by room size to the first 60 applicants.
Hurry & get
YOURS in so that you're not #61 and standing there with your nose
pressed to
the
window - looking in from the outside. Go to the NesdaOhio website
www.nesda-ohio.com There's more information about the event there.
Print
the
registration form, and mail it with your check to Ron Purkhiser at the
address on the
form. I hope to see you there - Look for ME sitting in the Front Row !
